The other day I was shopping for sunscreens and among all the child-friendly options I saw "Baby Blanket". I came home and looked them up to learn more and learned that Baby Blanket Suncare has been developing and manufacturing sunscreens for babies and children since 1999. They have a line of suncare options which includes:
- Sunblock Lotion
- Continuous Sprays
- Pump Sprays
- Scalp Sunscreen
- Sunscreen Sticks
- Sunscreen Towelettes
- Lip Block
Baby Blanket was the first suncare company to use Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide formulas in the baby suncare market, as well as the first to develop a ‘Tender Scalps’ sunscreen and a ‘faces’ sunscreen made especially for a baby’s tender scalp and delicate face.
Baby Blanket Suncare also has a line of speciality items and gift sets that really stand out this summer. For example, they have a water sandal set that includes water shoes and lotion to protect children's skin and eyes and from the sun, surf and turf! The shoes are available in size 5 or 6, with color options pink or blue. But there are many other sets and accessories, as well!
Baby Blanket Suncare was kind enough to send samples of their lotions and products for the Mom Buzz to try out, as well as a Quacks Sandals gift set of lotion and water sandals in pink. The products I received were the innovative towelletes, scalp sunscreen, sunblock lotion and zinc oxide sunscreen stick.
The towellete was conveniently packaged and easy to open. I had it tucked in my purse and pulled it out during a playgroup. It was like a firm wipe that was prelotioned so you just have to wipe it on your child to provide coverage. The lotion on the wipe is thick and white. It worked wonderfully and I didn't have to worry about a bottle opening and squirting the inside of my purse!
The sunscreen stick is also very convenient and small, easy to tuck into a bag. I used it to apply SPF 45+ protection on the boy's faces and it kept them safe while we were visiting SeaWorld! The stick was solid white with no scent. When applied it left no streaks.
The TenderScalps Scalp Sunscreen was non-greasy, hypoallergenic and water resistant. It provided Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB Protection. I sprayed it on the boy's heads and tried to get it to their scalp as much as possible. I usually do this with my normal sunscreen, so it was interesting their was a product made specifically for this! I think it reached the scalp easier since it was less thick than the Sunblock Lotion.
The Sunblock Lotion was the last thing I had to test on the boys. The lotion was also SPF 45+ with Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection. It went on thick and white, but dried clear. It wasn't sticky or greasy. It is water resistant, hypoallergenic, and pediatrician & dermatologist tested. I applied it all over the boys for maximum protection when at the theme park. While other kids turned beet red, the boys stayed nice and safe with the combination of their UV Shirts and Baby Blanket Suncare.
Baby Blanket Suncare suggests applying their sunscreens 20 minutes prior to exposure and to reapply after prolonged swimming, towel drying, excessive perspiration or just when you think you need more protection!
Overall, I think their products were wonderful I definitely would suggest checking out their gift sets if you are planning on travelling somewhere sunny. Although, lotion should be applied on your children every day since even sun exposure when they are walking to your car, playing at grandmas or taking a stroll around the block can cause skin damage!
