Corneille: The Birth of Cornelius

My husband is in charge of music at this house. He downloads the music on IPODS for me and the boys to listen to. So it was a nice change of pace to get a CD for me. Corneille: The Birth Of Cornelius. His voice and music sounded so familiar. It reminded me of what I used to listen to in my early 20s. When I popped the CD into the player, it was a great soundtrack for my day-to-day mom duties.

This is his first English CD! Corneille is originally from Rwanda and already has hits in Canada, France and Japan. Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Motown influenced his singing, so listeners will find his songs rich and soulful.

What's amazing about Corneille, besides his voice, is what he has been through prior to his singing career. His parents and other family members were all killed in Rwanda during the genocide in 1994. He was the only one who escaped and survived. He says that music has allowed him to hide and forget about the world at first. But eventually it became a vehicle for letting his thoughts and emotions out.

You can definitely hear the intensity and passion in his voice. And it's great that Corneille has come to America to share his work. This is where he feels most natural, so I think the music he produces from now on and will be something we can all identify with and enjoy.

Birth of Corneilius (Motown Records) has the following 11 songs to listen to:
  1. Back to Life
  2. All of My Love
  3. Liberation
  4. A Man of This World
  5. Murder
  6. Foolish Heart
  7. Too Much of Everything
  8. Home is By You
  9. I'll Never Call You Home Again
  10. Sweet Dependency
  11. Heaven
So, this is definitely music for mom and dad.
