First, the taste test. I was really wishing I had some more Carpool Queen from Persnicketea to try Truvia with, since I usually use sugar. But alas, I was out. So I decided to taste-test with some good ol' coffee. Add some milk, add two packets of Truvia... mmmmmmm ... perfect! The sweetness really stood out! And zero calories? Unbelievable! Pretty much, one packet of Truvia has the same sweetness as two teaspoons of sugar. (!!!) So the two packets I added was like FOUR TEASPOONS OF SUGAR! All that sweetness with no guilt!
Truvia is made from leaves of a stevia plant. They steep the leaves to capture the sweet rebiana, the best tasting part of the stevia plant. Sounds natural! In fact, the FDA has affirmed the safety of Truvia Rebiana as a Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) for use as a general purpose sweetener thanks to a recent rigorous safety evaluation program. So you can find Truvia at supermarkets across the country!
